Welcome to Mārama Kai Regenerative Wellbeing Trust

Reconnecting people to whenua, kai, and hauora

Mārama Kai was created from a simple belief:
Healthy soil. Healthy food. Healthy people. Healthy communities.
We believe that our wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of te taiao. What we grow, source, consume, and return to the land shapes not only our health, but the future of our whānau, communities, and environment.
Mārama Kai Regenerative Wellbeing Trust exists to support people to reconnect with the foundations of wellbeing through māra kai, food sovereignty, regenerative education, mātauranga Māori, and community based initiatives that strengthen resilience, belonging, and wellbeing.

Bridget Clare – Co-Founder of Mārama Kai

Our Vision
A future where people are connected to whenua, understand the relationship between food and health, have access to nourishing kai, and feel confident caring for themselves, their whānau, and their communities.
A future where mātauranga, regeneration, and wellbeing are woven together to create lasting intergenerational impact.

Our Work
Regenerative Wellbeing Education
Through wānanga, workshops, programmes, and community learning opportunities, we support people to understand health through the lens of nature, prevention, connection, and regeneration.
Our education explores topics including gut health, nervous system literacy, maramataka, rongoā, nutrition, soil health, environmental wellbeing, and sustainable ways of living.

Māra Kai and Food Sovereignty
We support the development of māra kai and community initiatives that reconnect people with growing food, caring for soil, understanding ecosystems, and strengthening local food resilience.
By restoring our relationship with kai and whenua, we help build healthier communities and greater self determination.

Wāhine Enterprise and Legacy Creation
Mārama Kai supports wāhine to transform what they grow, create, and produce into sustainable enterprises that generate wellbeing, opportunity, and intergenerational prosperity.
Through education, guidance, systems, and support, we help bridge the gap between small scale production and market readiness, creating pathways from māra to marketplace while maintaining integrity with tikanga and kaupapa.

Community Regeneration
We collaborate with whānau, schools, marae, community groups, funders, organisations, and local leaders to create projects that strengthen wellbeing, environmental stewardship, education, resilience, and connection.

Our Founder
Mārama Kai was co-founded by Bridget Clare, a naturopath, medical herbalist, nutritionist, rongoā practitioner, educator, and regenerative wellbeing advocate with more than three decades of experience in hauora.

Bridget’s vision is to help restore the connections between people, food, nature, and wellbeing, creating pathways that support both individual and collective flourishing.
